Meet Kiki
Some dogs walk into a room and own it. Kiki is not one of them — at least not at first.
At the county shelter, that very nearly cost her everything.
She was frightened. That was the whole of it. Not aggressive, not sick — just a small, scared dog who pressed herself into the back of a kennel and could not make herself look friendly for the people walking past. Shelters are loud, crowded, overwhelming places, and kennel space runs out. Kiki was one day away from being euthanized. Not for anything she had done, and not for anything wrong with her. Simply for being afraid.
She got out with a single day to spare.

Kiki takes her time. New faces, new places, new routines — she watches and waits until she's sure she's safe. But once you're in her inner circle, she's all in: demanding couch cuddles, nudging your hand for pets, and sleeping right beside you every night.
Once she feels secure, her real personality takes over. She's energetic, delightfully goofy, and guaranteed to entertain you with her daily zoomies. She likes leash walks too — she just needs a minute to find her confidence before hitting her stride — and nothing beats coming home to stretch out on the couch afterward.
Kiki is crate-free. Kennels stress her out, and she much prefers the run of the house. She's come a long way with house training and will head outside on her own to use the yard, especially with a dog door available. A little consistency while she settles in is all she needs.
She's fine with cats and other dogs, but her human is always number one. Kiki loves being the center of attention, so resident pets should be comfortable sharing the spotlight. She'll take her time finding her feet — and once she does, she'll make every moment worth the wait.
